Care at a Glance
☀️ Light
Bright, indirect light is ideal. Tolerates lower light but grows and blooms best near a well-lit window. Avoid harsh direct sun, which can scorch the leaves.
💧 Watering
Water thoroughly, then allow the top half of the soil to dry out before watering again. Hoyas prefer to dry down between drinks — overwatering is the most common issue. Reduce frequency in cooler months.
💧 Humidity
Enjoys moderate to high humidity (50–70%). Thrives in bathrooms or kitchens, or alongside a group of other plants. A pebble tray with water can help in drier rooms.
📏 Expected Mature Size
A compact trailing or climbing hoya. Vines can reach 30–60 cm over time with good care. Grows slowly — patience is rewarded!
🪴 Nursery Pot Size
Supplied in a 12cm nursery pot. Repot into a 14cm pot once roots begin to circle the base, typically every 1–2 years.
🏠 Room Suitability
Perfect for living rooms, bedrooms, home offices, or bathrooms with a bright window. Well-suited to shelves, hanging planters, or trained up a small trellis.
🐾 Pet Safety
Hoya Mathilde is considered non-toxic to cats and dogs according to the ASPCA. A pet-friendly choice for animal-loving households.
